Adventures in Marathi Learning: A Saturday at Marathi Shala
This Saturday at Marathi Shala was not just another day of learning; it was an adventure into the heart of the Marathi language, sprinkled with laughter, fun, and a few "Aha!" moments.
Morning Session with Batch 1: The Vowel Voyage Our first batch of little linguists arrived at 10:05 AM, possibly thinking they were in for a regular class. Little did they know, they were about to embark on a vowel voyage! We dived into the world of Marathi Swar (Vowels) - अ, आ, इ, ई, उ, ऊ, ए, ऐ. Imagine trying to explain the difference between उ and ऊ to a room full of energetic kids - it's like convincing them that broccoli is a treat!
To spice things up, we added ओ and औ to the mix. We used words from everyday life, turning the class into a treasure hunt for vowels. Picture a bunch of kids excitedly shouting "ओ as in ओठ!

The 11:10 AM Session with Batch 2: Number Ninjas Our second batch, the older and wiser crew, started at 11:10 AM. Having conquered the Marathi vowels, they were ready for their next challenge - numbers (anka). We lined up English and Marathi numbers side by side, turning it into a sort of linguistic mirror exercise. It's like looking at your reflection and seeing a number staring back at you in Marathi!

The kids tackled the numbers with the focus of ninjas, mastering everything from एक (1) to दहा (10). The quality of their writing was so impressive, it could put a calligrapher to shame. Here's a sneak peek at their artistic numerals:
1 (१) एक (Ek) - as easy as one, two, three, or should we say, एक, दोन, तीन?
2 (२) दोन (Don) - two's company, दोन's a party!
... and so on up to 10 (१०) दहा (Dahā).
