Celebrating Marathi Bhasha Din at Marathi Shala: A Blend of Learning and Cultural Pride
Yesterdays's session at Marathi Shala was not just another day of learning; it was a vibrant celebration of Marathi Bhasha Din, a day dedicated to cherishing and promoting the Marathi language. Our scholars, both young and old, immersed themselves in activities that not only enriched their understanding of the language but also deepened their cultural roots.
The Morning Begins with Warmth and Devotion
As the Batch 1 scholars arrived at 10 AM, the air was filled with anticipation. The session kicked off with a warmup kavayat activity, led by Jayshree Ji and Amita Ji, setting a lively tone for the day. Following this, we delved into a moment of divine learning with the mantra “Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu,” a beautiful homage to the gods and teachers who enlighten our paths.
A Showcase of Marathi Sentences
One of the highlights of today's celebration was when each scholar stepped forward to present 2-4 sentences in Marathi. This exercise was not just about language; it was about expressing their identity, their thoughts, and their creativity in Marathi. The scholars did a fabulous job, showcasing their preparation and enthusiasm.
A Recap with a Twist
The session continued with a recap of Swar and Vynajane, led by Amita Ji and Jayashree Ji. Today, however, the recap was infused with the spirit of Marathi Bhasha Din, making it a more meaningful exercise. We also introduced two more Vynajane (เคฆ [d], เคง [dha]), expanding our scholars' vocabulary and skills in reading and writing.
The Joy of Singing Together
The session concluded with a fun and interactive song game featuring the beloved children's song “Zhuk Zhuk Aagingadi.” Volunteers Sachin Ji and Vaishali Ji joined in, turning the learning session into a joyful sing-along that resonated with the innocence and charm of childhood.
Engaging the Older Scholars
The Batch 2 session, starting at 11:10 am, began with the recitation of “Manache Shlok,” offering timeless wisdom. This was followed by a recap of Swar and Vynajane, and the introduction of new letters (เคฒ [l], เคต [v]), enhancing our older scholars' linguistic repertoire.
An interactive activity led by Sucheta Ji involved creating sentences from pictures, encouraging scholars to think creatively and use their Marathi language skills in new ways. This activity was particularly engaging, with scholars crafting impressive sentences.
Insights from Our Guest Speaker
The highlight for Batch 2 was a presentation by our guest speaker, Sejal Ghanate, on the theme “Good Habits Make a Good Person.” Her insights were not only educational but inspirational, leaving a lasting impact on our scholars.
Looking Forward
As we wrapped up today's session, the homework assigned was reflective and forward-looking. Batch 1 scholars are to practice letter writing in their notebooks, while Batch 2 scholars will write about two good habits that contribute to being a good and fair person.
Today's Marathi Shala session was a testament to the power of language in connecting us to our roots and to each other. It was a day filled with learning, laughter, and a shared love for the Marathi language. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Ghanate family and all our volunteers and scholars for making Marathi Bhasha Din a memorable celebration.
Stay tuned for more updates and insights from our sessions. Together, we continue to grow, learn, and celebrate our rich Marathi heritage.
