A Warm Morning of Learning at MH Marathi Shala

A Warm Morning of Learning at MH Marathi Shala

As the winter chill sets in, the MH Marathi Shala continues to be a hub of warmth and vibrant learning. Yesterday's classes for both batches were not just about language; they were about integrating wellness and culture into our curriculum.

Batch 1: Energizing Start with Surya Namaskar Our day began at 10 AM PST with our enthusiastic Batch 1 students. Acknowledging the cold morning, we decided to infuse some physical activity into our routine. The session started with a unique twist - a Surya Namaskar demonstration. We showed a video explaining the easy steps of Surya Namaskar, making it accessible and engaging for our young scholars. Following the video, our volunteers led the kids through 7 rounds of Surya Namaskar. This warm-up exercise was not just a physical activity; it was a way to connect with a vital aspect of Indian culture.

 Kids Doing Surya Namaskar

Post the energizing start, we dived into academics, recapping the Marathi Vowels (Swar): เค…, เค†, เค‡, เคˆ, เค‰, เคŠ, เค, เค, เค“, เค”. We then introduced เค…ं and เค…ः, expanding their understanding of Marathi phonetics. The session concluded with a homework assignment: writing these letters, reinforcing their learning.

Batch 2: Enhancing Vocabulary with Marathi Vowels At 11:10 AM, it was time for Batch 2 to shine. We began by recapping all the Marathi Vowels. But, instead of a straightforward review, we turned it into an interactive vocabulary-building exercise. Each child was encouraged to come up with new words using these vowels. This innovative approach, introduced by our teacher Puja Ji, not only reinforced their understanding of the vowels but also expanded their Marathi vocabulary.

Kids Learning Alphabets

Having already mastered numbers (Anuk) from 1-10, we moved on to the first three Marathi Alphabets (เค•, เค–, เค—) and their common usage in daily life. The kids were visibly excited to learn these new letters and the words associated with them. The class ended with a homework assignment to learn/write the fourth Marathi alphabet (เค˜), ensuring continued engagement with the language.

Yesterday's classes at MH Marathi Shala were a testament to our commitment to holistic education. By integrating physical activity, cultural elements, and innovative teaching methods, we are not just teaching a language; we are nurturing well-rounded individuals connected to their roots. We look forward to many more such enriching sessions!
